Broiler Chick Hatchery up 3% in 2004WASHINGTON - Apr 15/05 - SNS -- Production of broiler-type chicks in the United States rose 3% last year to 9.33 billion, according to the USDA, continuing the trend of setting new annual records, which started in 1975. Leading breeders had intended placements of 83.9 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during 2004, up 3% from 2003. Placements of broiler chicks in the 19-State weekly program totaled 8.91 billion during the 52 week period ending January 1, 2005, up 3% from the 52 week period ending December 27, 2003.
