U.S. Sunflower Area to JumpWASHINGTON - Mar 31/05 - SNS -- Sunflower seed growers in the United States expect to plant a total of 2.75 million acres in 2005, up 47% from last year and the first acreage increase since 1998, according to this year's seeding intentions estimates from the USDA. Area intended for oil type varieties, at 2.19 million acres, is up 43% from 2004, and the non-oil varieties, estimated at 565,000 acres, are up 66% from last year.
