Japan Lifts Korean Poultry BanTOKYO - Mar 24/05 - SNS -- The Japanese agriculture department said the country's three-month old ban on imports of poultry products from South Korea is now over. The ban was imposed because of worries South Korea was experiencing an outbreak of avian influenza. However, no new cases have been discovered since December. At that time, South Korea reported the discovery of the low-pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza virus at a duck farm in Gwangju, southwest of Seoul. H5N2 is a low pathogenic strain of avian influenza.
