Brazil Approves GM CottonST. LOUIS - Mar 21/05 - SNS -- Monsanto's Bollgard cotton is closer to approval for use in Brazil with last week's approval of the genetically modified variety by Brazil's regulatory body, the National Commission for Biosafety (CTNBio). Jerry Glover, Vice-President External Affairs, Monsanto Company, says,, however, that "commercialization of the product cannot proceed until the Minister of Agriculture registers the various varieties of cotton seed containing the Bollgard trait, and those applications must be done by companies that we can license."
