Chilean Stone Fruit Output DeclinesWASHINGTON - Mar 17/05 - SNS -- Chile's apricots, plums, peaches and nectarines and cherries are expected to decline from last year, offsetting some of the gains recorded last year. The U.S. agricultural attache for the country says, "Although rain in some areas during last spring did not affect total output of stone fruit for this season, increases in production were moderate for most stone fruits with the exception of cherries. A significant increase in production and exports of cherries is expected, as planted area has expanded considerable during the last few years."
