Bird Flu in North KoreaTOKYO - Mar 17/05 - SNS -- Reports of avian influenza in Pyongyang in North Korea has prompted Japan to ban poultry imports from the country "as a preventative measure." Earlier in the week, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported thousands of chickens died from bird flu at a North Korean processing plant in the city. The ban will have no impact on poultry trade between the two countries, The last time Japan imported poultry meat from North Korea was in 2002, when it imported 5 metric tons (MT) of duck meat.
