Syngenta Registers Quilt Fungicide in U.S.

GREENSBORO - Mar 15/05 - SNS -- Quilt fungicide has been registered in the United States for use on wheat, barley, triticale and grasses grown for seed for the control of rusts, Septoria, powdery mildew and tan spot. State registrations are pending.

Quilt is a formulation combining Syngenta's Tilt and Quadris fungicides. The company said the two modes of action, represented by the active ingredients propiconazole and azoxystrobin, complement each other to provide a built-in resistance management strategy for sustainable disease control.

The fungicide is active at all stages of the fungal pathogen (spore germination, mycelial growth and sporulation), providing protectant, curative and eradicant activity. It also works systemically to resist wash off and protect new growth.

"Quilt combines a leading U.S. cereals fungicide with the only strobilurin available in the United States that distributes throughout the leaf to provide total protection. Cereals growers can be confident that they are getting improved, long-lasting protection against key foliar diseases," said John Goggin, brand manager for Syngenta.
