Australian Barley Indicator Prices for 2005-06SYDNEY - Mar 10/05 - SNS -- Australia's barley marketing board, ABB Grain Ltd, has set opening indicator prices for its 2005-06 season barley pool. In the state of Victoria, these are A$180 to 190 per metric ton (MT) for malting 1 barley and between $140 and $150 MT at the grower level for feed 1 barley. ABB Grain Ltd managing director, Michael Iwaniw, emphasized that these estimates were based on export prices, and that the east coast supply of grain and the domestic demand for feed grain would be major influences on prices as the season progressed. Speaking at the Victorian Farmers Federation conference, Iwaniw said that predicting barley prices had become an increasingly difficult task because of the number of variables involved.
