Japan Requires Apple Juice TestingWASHINGTON - Mar 10/05 - SNS -- All pure apple juice shipped from the United States to Japan must be tested for patulin, a naturally occurring mycotoxin. The decision stems from a recent violation of the maximum residue level (MRL) for patulin reported to the United States by Japan's Ministry of Health Labor and Welfare. Under the order all apple juice exported from the United States will need to be tested by importers at the port before it can enter Japan, according to the U.S. agricultural attache for Japan.
