USDA Lowers 2004-05 Orange Harvest EstimateWASHINGTON - Mar 10/05 - SNS -- The U.S. all orange March forecast for the 2004-05 season is 9.38 million tons, down 3% from the February 1 forecast and 27% below last season's final utilization, according to the USDA's latest crop production estimates. Florida's all orange forecast, at 153 million boxes (6.89 million tons), is down 6% from last month and 37% below the 2003-04 season. Early and midseason varieties in Florida are forecast at 81.0 million boxes (3.65 million tons), down 4% from last month and 36% below the previous season. The harvest of the early and midseason varieties is nearly complete. The drop rate, at 18%, is above the past ten seasons for the early-midseason fruit.
