Turkey Expects Bigger Pulse HarvestWASHINGTON - Mar 8/05 - SNS -- Pulse production levels in Turkey stand a good chance of increasing this year as the country's farmers respond to higher average trading levels for chickpeas and lentils. This could see a modest increase in chickpea area from 640,000 to 650,000 hectares; while combined green and red lentil area expands from an estimated 450,000 hectares last year to a forecast 460,000 hectares in 2005.
