Container Rationing in VancouverVANCOUVER - Mar 7/05 - SNS -- Ocean Lines will continue to ration the number of new containers available for loading at Deltaport by 25% a week for another four weeks in an effort to clear a substantial back-log at the port. According to industry reports, TSI Terminals maintains the backlog of about 5,000 containers has not changed since it declared force majeure mid-January. The group complains CN Rail has yet "to provide the extra capacity it promised at the time, from 11,800 feet per day to 14,000 feet." CN counters that capacity has been affected by events outside its control, including a recent collision between a passenger train and a truck that disrupted mainline traffic.
