Smaller Brazilian Apple HarvestWASHINGTON - Mar 4/05 - SNS -- Brazilian apple production is expected to drop 13% this year to just 850,000 metric tons (MT) because of weather problems, a dramatic reversal from last year, when output soared 17% to a record 978,000 MT. The harvest of the Brazilian 2005 apple crop began in early January, reports the U.S. agricultural attache for the country, and it is expected to be complete by May 2005.
