Australian Auction Sales JumpSYDNEY - Mar 4/05 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd during the past week rocketed upward on strong selling interest for both sheep and cattle. Throughput for the week totalled 51,126 sheep and lambs, up from 35,252 last week, for its second weekly increase. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 3,337, up from 2,363 last week, ending three weeks of declining sales. "Continuing severe weather conditions pushed throughput sharply higher this week," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Passed in rates were high, particularly in today's cattle sale, indicating the reluctance of growers to meet a market, which has definitely and understandably weakened over the past week or so."
