Colombia Forecasts Larger Cotton CropWASHINGTON - Feb 28/05 - SNS -- Colombia's cotton harvest should rise to around 52,300 metric tons (MT) this year, a solid improvement on last year's 49,580 MT crop. High support prices (the government is guaranteeing producers prices close to US 80 cents per pound) are resulting in greater production, argues the U.S. agricultural attache for the country, but high production costs are limiting the size of further increases.
