January Egg Output RisesWASHINGTON - Feb 24/05 - SNS -- Egg production in the United States rose 3% above the previous year during January to reach 7.61 billion, reports the USDA. Of the total, 6.52 billion were table eggs, and 1.09 billion were hatching eggs, including 1.03 billion were broiler-type and 64 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during January 2005 averaged 348 million, up 3% from a year earlier. January egg production per 100 layers was 2,188 eggs, up slightly from January 2004.
