Australian Crop Boosts ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Feb 18/05 - SNS -- International chickpea markets remained relatively firm in the face of a smaller than expected Australian harvest and tight supplies of kabuli type chickpeas across all exporters. While Australia is mainly known as a desi chickpea grower, the 10% reduction in the size of Australia's entire chickpea crop from earlier estimates puts the crop at 114,000 metric tons (MT), down from 178,000 MT last year.
