EPA Gives North Dakota Fungicide ExemptionBISMARCK – Feb 16/05 - SNS -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is giving a quarantine emergency exemption for the fungicide Stratego® for use by North Dakota soybean growers to control Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi). The exemption allows up to two ground or aerial applications of Stratego® at a rate of 5.5 to 10 fluid ounces of product per acre. Applicators must follow directions, restrictions, worker protection standard requirements and precautions on the EPA-registered label and all use directions on the exemption label. They must also have the exemption label in their possession during application. Growers must observe a 12-hour restricted entry interval and a 21-day pre-harvest interval. The exemption allows a maximum of 1.5 million acres of soybeans to be treated in North Dakota.
