Reduced U.S. Turkey HatcheryWASHINGTON - Feb 14/05 - SNS -- Turkey hatchery activity in the United States continues to slip below year earlier levels, according to the latest data available from the USDA. Turkey eggs in incubators on February 1, 2005, in the United States totaled 27.1 million, 6% below February 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were 3% below the January 1, 2005 total of 28.0 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 8% at 4,604,000 eggs; West North Central down 13% at 10,207,000; North and South Atlantic up slightly at 7,953,000; South Central down 10% at 2,077,000; and West down 14% at 2,213,000 eggs in incubators.
