Japan's Broiler Demand RecoveringWASHINGTON - Feb 8/05 - SNS -- Japan's import demand for poultry meat is expected to recover this year, with total imports rising 5% to a projected 595,000 MT. The U.S. agricultural attache for the country notes bans on poultry from Thailand, China and the United States, caused 2004 imports to plunge by nearly 20%, and enabled Brazil to capture most of the import market. Although higher than 2004, the 2005 import estimate is still relatively low compared to levels achieved in recent years. Imports averaged 716,000 MT between 2000 and 2003.
