Bunge Declares Lower Q4 Net
NEW YORK - Feb 8/05 - SNS -- Bunge Limited declared a modest increase in fourth quarter net earnings of $5 million over the previous year.
During the three months ending December 31, 2004 the company earned $105 million on sales of $6,212 million; compared to $100 million on sales of $6.358 million in 2003.
This lifted net earnings for the fiscal year to $469 million on sales of $25,168 million, an improvement on neat earnings of $411 million on sales of $22,165 million during the 2003 fiscal year.
The fourth quarter decline in sales stemmed from a decease in handling volume, the company said. It slipped 1% from 26.9,million metric tons (MT) in 2993 to 26.8 million last year. Total handle for the year was up 3%, rising from 106.2 million MT to 108.9 million.
