Australian Auction Sales RiseSYDNEY - Feb 5/05 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd during the past week rose above week earlier levels as declines in the number of cattle on offer was overwhelmed by a solid increase in sheep sales. Throughput for the week totalled 37,934 sheep and lambs, up from 27,222 last week, for a third weekly increase. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 2,599, down from 3,170 last week, offsetting some of the previous week's gains. "Indications are that numbers are backing up quickly and you get the feeling with sheep in particular, that it will be during these hot months that the smart operators buy in whilst the market is showing some hesitancy," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said.
