Record Special Crops Stocks On-HandVANCOUVER - Feb 2/05 - SNS -- Stocks of the major specialty crops grown in western Canada are 480,000 metric tons (MT) above their previous combined peak, with all crops but sunflower seed setting new highs for December 31, judging from the latest stocks in all positions data from Statistics Canada. Despite the massive increase, the numbers reveal field peas, lentils and sunflower disappeared at a good pace during the first five months of the 2004-05 marketing year; while usage levels for mustard and canaryseed were low.
