Rogers Sugar Income DropsTORONTO - Feb 2/05 - SNS -- Rogers Sugar Income Fund reported a reduction in the volume of sugar handled during the first quarter of the 2005 fiscal year which ended December 31, resulting in a decline in profits relative to the previous fiscal year. The company reported net earnings of CDN $11.156 million on sales of $106.421 million; compared to net earnings of $13.388 million on sales of $108,734 million the previous fiscal year. Volume for the first quarter was 180,648 metric tons (MT), as opposed to 187,980 in the comparable quarter last year. Industrial volume was down by almost 10,000 MT and consumer volume was also down by 3,900 MT. This was partially offset by an increase in thick juice sales from Rogers.
