CBOT Reports 9.6% Volume Gain in JanuaryCHICAGO - Feb 2/05 - SNS -- Trading volume on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) rose 9.6% in January to 45,158,094 contracts in all trading pits. Exchange-wide average daily volume in January increased 9.6% to 2,257,905 contracts from levels seen in the prior year. In addition, total Exchange open interest at the end of January rose 21.8% from last year to 11,767,002 contracts. Agricultural futures and options complex trade was up 11.4% from December 2004 at 5,737,421 contracts. Wheat futures rose 52.4% from last month to 612,980 contracts. Wheat options rose 94.2% from last month to 148,339 contracts. Corn futures rose 25.5% from last month to 1,467,819 contracts. Corn options rose 40% from last month to 372,195 contracts. Soybean options rose 37.8% from last month to 439,211 contracts. Soybean Meal options rose 51.8% from last month to 49,162 contracts. Soybean Oil options rose 26.9% from last month to 40,850 contracts.
