Record Cotton Crop Mooted for TanzaniaWASHINGTON - Jan 28/05 - SNS -- Cotton production in Tanzania is expected to reach a record 500,000 bales this season, up 265,000 bales from last year, says the USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS). USDA's January 2004-05 output estimate is largely based upon seed purchases, weather, satellite imagery analysis, ground reports, and gin arrivals by the end of December as recently reported by Tanzania's Cotton Board.
