Fruit in Cold Storage Up Over 2003WASHINGTON - Jan 24/05 - SNS -- Inventories of fresh and frozen fruit remained above year earlier levels at the end of December, though they were down from month earlier levels, according to the USDA's latest report on agricultural products in cold storage. Fresh apples stocks finished December at 5,231 million pounds, up 27% from the previous year, but down 12% during on the month. Pears were down from both year and month earlier levels. Inventories of frozen fruit fell 7% during December to 1,074 million pounds, but remained 8% above year earlier levels.
