Canada Expects Lower Specialty Area in 2005VANCOUVER - Jan 21/05 - SNS -- Agriculture Canada is looking for specialty crop plantings in western Canada to drop from 7.78 million acres in 2004 to a forecast 7.16 million acres based on expectations of reduced field pea, lentil, mustard and canaryseed plantings in western Canada. By contrast, Agriculture Canada expects dry edible bean to leap upward this year; while chickpea, sunflower and buckwheat plantings post modest advances over 2004.
