Proso Millet Crop Jumps 32%WASHINGTON - Jan 12/05 - SNS -- Total 2004 proso millet production in the United States is estimated at 15.1 million bushels, up 32% from the 2003 production of 11.5 million bushels, according to the USDA's 2004 annual crop production summary. Yields are also higher in 2004 with the average yield estimated at 25.3 bushels per acre, up 6.8 bushels per acre from last year. Planted area for the 2004 crop is 710,000 acres, 3% below last year and harvested area totaled 595,000 acres, down 4% from 2003.
