USDA Boosts 2004 Cotton Fiber EstimateWASHINGTON - Jan 12/05 - SNS -- Total cotton fiber production in the United States in 2004 is now estimated at 23 million bales, up from 18.3 million last year, according to the USDA's 2004 annual crop production summary. In breaking down the numbers by class, the USDA said upland cotton production is estimated at a record high 22.3 million bales, up slightly from the December 1 forecast and 25% more than last year's production.
