USDA Cuts Bean Estimate to 807,403 MTWASHINGTON - Jan 12/05 - SNS -- U.S. dry edible bean production is estimated at 17.8 million cwt or 807,403 metric tons (MT) for 2004, down 2% from the December forecast and 21% below last year, according to the USDA's 2004 annual crop production summary. Harvested acreage is estimated at 1.22 million acres, down less than 1% from the last forecast and 9% below 2003. The average U.S. yield is estimated at 1,460 pounds per acre, a decrease of 19 pounds from the December forecast and 210 pounds below a year ago.
