U.S. Hay Stocks Rise 3%WASHINGTON - Jan 12/05 - SNS -- Stocks of all hay stored on farms in the United States totaled 114 million tons on December 1, 2004, up 3% from the previous year, according to the USDA. Disappearance of hay from May 2004 - December 2004 totaled 69.4 million tons, compared to 68.6 million tons for the same period a year ago. Hay stocks increased in most of the southern Great Plains States. In some areas, the improvement of range and pasture conditions resulted in a decrease of supplemental feeding of hay.
