Chile Expects Smaller Apple HarvestWASHINGTON - Jan 11/05 - SNS -- Chile is looking for a smaller apple harvest in 2005 than was the case last year as cold and rainy weather during the springtime is expected to have a negative effect on the volume, but not the quality of the fruit. If current forecasts are correct, production could slip from 1,252,000 metric tons (MT) in 2004 to 1,180,000 MT this year -- still up from the 1.08 million MT grown in 2003.
