UAP Reports Larger Q3 LossNEW YORK - Jan 10/04 - SNS -- UAP Holding Corp., a distributor of agricultural and non-crop inputs in the United States and Canada reported larger net loss during the third quarter ending November 28, 2004 than was the case the previous year. During the quarter, the company lost U.S. $30.922 million on sales of $267.157, compared to a loss of $18.478 on sales of $293.822 million during the previous fiscal year. This reduced the company's fiscal year to date net earnings to $16.396 million on sales of $2,229.627 million; compared to net earnings during the first nine months of the previous year of $36.277 million on sales of $2,224.107 million. UAP said fertilizer sales increased to $494.4 million from $460.3 million in the comparable year-ago period. The increase was due to higher pricing, which offset lower sales volumes resulting from later-than- normal demand in the fall fertilizer market in the Midwest.
