Dairy Product Output SlipsWASHINGTON - Jan 5/05 - SNS -- Dairy product output was generally lower in the United States in November, judging from the latest USDA data. Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 750 million pounds, 5.6% above November 2003 and 0.2% above October 2004. American type cheese production totaled 306 million pounds, 5.0% above November 2003 but 1.5% below October 2004. Butter production was 99.1 million pounds in November, 12.0% above November 2003 but 2.4% below October 2004. Frozen dessert: (comparisons with November 2003): Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 60.1 million gallons, up 0.9%; Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 26.7 million gallons, up 25.2%; Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.12 million gallons, down 17.0%; Sherbet (hard) --- 3.43 million gallons, up 8.1%; and Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 4.42 million gallons, up 1%.
