Strong Bean Markets Point to More Beans in 2005WASHINGTON - Dec 17/04 - SNS -- Strong prices for dry edible beans should prevail across the 2004-05 marketing year, with the result seedings in the United States would be expected to rise sharply in 2005, says Gary Lucier of the USDA's Economic Research Service in the latest USDA Vegetables and Melons Outlook. "Even with increased imports, domestic supplies will likely remain below average for most classes in the coming months. Thus, continuing high dry bean prices along with expected lower prices for competing grains will set the stage for a significant increase in area planted next spring," Lucier said in his analysis of the market.
