U.S. Harvests 821,843 MT Edible BeansWASHINGTON - Dec 10/04 - SNS -- Dry edible bean production in the United States ended up at 18.1 million cwt or 821,843 metric tons (MT) for 2004, down 3% from the October forecast and 19% below last year's 1,021,348 MT result, according to the USDA. Harvested acreage is forecast at 1.23 million acres, 2% below the last forecast and down 9% from 2003. The average U.S. yield is forecast at 1,479 pounds per acre, a decrease of 16 pounds from the October forecast and 191 pounds below a year ago.
