ABB Buys Direct FertilizerSYDNEY - Dec 2/04 - SNS -- ABB Grain Ltd bought the assets of Direct Fertilizers Limited and Direct Fertilizers International Pty Ltd (together Direct). Direct Fertilizer Ltd's shareholders approved the sale on November 19, following ABB's announcement on October 25 that it had entered into a contract to acquire the Direct business. Direct's general manager, Rob Squire, would remain as general manager of the unit, and other staff members would be retained so customers would see little change in the business. ABB will continue to sell fertilizer from Direct facilities at Port Adelaide, Port Lincoln and Geelong. Squire said the di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP), granular urea, sulphate of ammonia and zinc would continue to be key bulk products offered by the company.
