South African Bean Area Under PressurePRETORIA - Nov 22/04 - SNS -- Pulse production remains under significant pressure for the 2004-05 season, judging from the latest summer seeding intention and winter crop production estimates from the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS). Total area in pulses during the 2004-05 season now stands at an estimated 55,100 hectares, down from 82,610 hectares last year and the smallest potential pulse area since the country planted 57,000 hectares of dry edible beans and lupins in 1997-98.
