Specialty Crop Harvest Winding DownREGINA - Nov 15/04 - SNS -- Relatively good progress was made bringing in the tail end of this year's specialty crop harvest in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, judging from the latest crop progress reports from agriculture departments in the two provinces. Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food reports the mustard seed, field pea and lentil harvest remain 99% complete, while the percentage of chickpeas in the bin jumped from 89% last week to 96%; canaryseed harvest progress advanced six points to 96% complete; and the sunflower harvest advanced from 41% to 59% complete. Progress was also reported in Manitoba, with most regions enjoying a week of relatively dry conditions. Not all this year's dry edible bean crop will be harvested in the province, with some regions reporting at least 25% of the crop has been abandoned.
