USDA Designates Ag Disaster AreasWASHINGTON - Nov 15/04 - SNS -- The USDA designated additional counties in Montana and Texas as primary agricultural disaster areas. Montana Carter, Fallon, Liberty and Prairie Counties in Montana were designated as primary disaster areas due to late spring frosts that occurred from May 1, 2004, through June 30, 2004. Also eligible because they are contiguous are the counties of Chouteau, Custer, Dawson, Garfield, Hill, McCone, Pondera, Powder River, Toole and Wibaux. Carter County in Montana is also designated as a primary disaster area due to high winds that occurred from April 1, 2004, and continuing. Eligible for the same disaster because they are contiguous are Custer, Fallon and Powder River Counties. Texas Wilbarger County in Texas is designated as a primary disaster area due to hail and high winds that occurred on June 2, June 4, and June 8, 2004. Also eligible for the same disaster because they are contiguous are Archer, Baylor, Foard, Hardeman and Wichita Counties. Wise County in Texas is designated as a primary disaster area due to rain, flooding, winds and lightning that occurred from June 6, 2004, through June 11, 2004. Eligible for the same disaster because they are contiguous are Cooke, Denton, Jack, Montague, Parker and Tarrant Counties.
