Luthar Named ADM Vice President-Treasurer

NEW YORK - Nov 9/04 - SNS -- Vikram Luthar has been elected Archer Daniels Midland Company's (ADM) Vice President-Treasurer, responsible for global treasury operations and day-to-day liquidity and risk management, including foreign exchange, interest rate and counterparty risk.

Luthar's broader responsibilities will include executing a long-term capital plan for ADM's consolidated global operations and overseeing ADM's global pension funding and asset management. Luthar will also be responsible for ADM's relationships with banks and the rating agencies.

Luthar has had several years of treasury and international finance experience including spending eleven years with General Motors Corporation in various treasury positions. Luthar served most recently in Singapore as Regional Treasurer of GM's Asia Pacific operations and has also held various corporate treasury assignments with GM in New York before moving to Singapore.
