SWP Boosts 2003-04 Grain HandleREGINA - Oct 27/04 - SNS -- The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (SWP) experienced a substantial increase in grain handle at both primary and terminal elevator facilities during the 2003-04 marketing year. In releasing its fourth quarter and fiscal 2003-04 results today, the SWP said, "Total shipments for the year were 6.4 million MT (metric tons), up 34% over last year, while total port terminal volumes almost doubled to 4.5 million MT, from 2.4 million MT last year." The increase in the SWP's handle is consistent with the rest of the industry and reflects a rebound in crop production levels in 2003. Bumper harvests this year suggest the company should see further increases in grain handle in 2004-05, say analysts with STAT Market Research.
