Wintry Weather Slows U.S. Bean HarvestWASHINGTON - Oct 25/04 - SNS -- Dry edible bean harvest activity was slowed in much of the growing region in the United States, with some states complaining about the arrival of winter weather. Over 85% the entire U.S. bean crop now in the bin. Of the reporting states, harvest progress is slowest in New York and Nebraska; and most advanced in Idaho and Michigan, where the harvest is now deemed complete. Limited progress was reported in North Dakota, the most important producing state, with the harvest now 84% complete, while Minnesota's harvest is 96% complete, and Colorado's 83%.
