Canadian Egg Output Starts Strong
OTTAWA - Mar 5/02 - STAT -- Canadian egg producers started 2002 by getting a good jump on the performance recorded in prior years as the number of eggs produced jumped just over 5% to 49.9 million dozen.
This preliminary estimate from Statistics Canada also sets a monthly record for production, beating the previous record by 100,000 dozen eggs. It was just set last December.
This continue the strong growth pattern noted across the North American egg industry, with annual production in both the United States and Canada consistently setting new annual records.
