Strong Advance in Eggs BrokenWASHINGTON - Mar 4/02 - STAT -- The quantity of eggs used by manufacturers in the United States posted a solid, 6% advance over last year to 153 million dozen in January, according to the latest USDA data. Interestingly, the largest increase in liquid products resulting from manufacturing activity was in eggs whites. Output jumped 12% to 51.8 million pounds. By contrast, output of whole egg liquid rose just 4% to 114.1 million pounds, while the volume of egg yolks produced inched up to 27.36 million pounds.
