Sask Pea Harvest Now 39% CompleteREGINA - Sep 14/04 - SNS -- Good progress was reported with this year's pea and lentil harvest during the past week in Saskatchewan, though it remains the third slowest harvest on record for the specialty crop industry. The field pea harvest is most advanced, with Saskatchewan Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization reporting 39% of the crop has been combined, compared to 99% at this time last year and the recent five-year average of 81% complete. The lentil harvest is the next most advanced, with 37% of the crop off fields, down from 99% last year and the recent five-year average of 75%. It is followed by mustard seed, where 17% of Saskatchewan's crop is now in the bin, compared to 93% at this time last year and the average of almost 66%.
