Shipping Worries, U.S. Subsidies Afflict PeasVANCOUVER - Sep 10/04 - SNS -- Concern over Canada's ability to meet short term shipping commitments for field peas and other agricultural products was underscored last week by a declaration of "force majeur" by Agricore United on grain shipments from its line elevators. The declaration affected 100 railcars of grain. There was no indication field peas were involved. But, the move emphasizes problems faced with this year's harvest, which is advancing at a slow rate.
