USDA Buys 20,850 MT PulsesKANSAS CITY - Sep 9/04 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 20,850 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment as food aid during October. In releasing details of purchases for USDA Al-480 food aid tender invitation 094, the USDA said it rejected offers covering 4,000 MT of pinto beans due to price. Prices for pinto and other classes of dry edible beans jumped sharply after a killing frost struck crops in Manitoba, North Dakota and Minnesota.
