Chickpeas Finish on Up NoteVANCOUVER - Aug 27/04 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets finished the week;s trading unchanged to stronger on worries about the extent of damage to Canadian crops from recent cold and wet weather in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Development of this year's crop was delayed because it was seeded later than hoped, while the cooler growing season slowed all phases of crop development. This left fields vulnerable to damage from the August 20 and 21 frosts which struck most of eastern and central Saskatchewan, all of Manitoba, and much of North Dakota and Minnesota.
